Animation Studio at the Museum mit der Maus, Odysseum Köln

The “Museum mit der Maus” represents applied and realistic science topics, a learning environment for children who can explore the museum, watch the “Sachgeschichten der Maus” (stories of the mouse) and unravel mysteries in everyday life. Now kids can also create their own stories – at the “Trickfilmstudio mit der Maus” (animation studio with the mouse).

Here little everyday things become big and thus easier to understand.

Participating and touching are implicitly allowed!

Your animated cartoons are waiting for you

You have already been to the animation studio and want to look at the stories you created? Come this way!

Watch Movies

Shoot your own funny stories

The animation studio is the new recreation room of the “Maus”. With pencil, paper and scissors you create your own animated cartoon in next to no time. There are three working areas: Drawing, Motion and Editing. At these stations you learn step by step how pictures are set in motion. You become a producer of animated cartoons!

At the first station you can copy our three characters mouse, elephant and duck and put them together again as imaginary figures. At the second station you will find a choice of characters, accessories and backgrounds, enabling you to create animated scenes either as 2D or 3D pictures. “Editing” is the station where you can add sounds and background music to your animated cartoon. You can send the final result by e-mail to your friends or to yourself.

Experience stories with the “Maus”

This is where the “Maus” lives. Walk from one room to the other, make discoveries and unravel mysteries in everyday life. In the bathroom you learn how a whirlpool in the bath tub occurs.

At the “Maus Factory” you learn how a dynamo is constructed and you will see a huge electric kettle. Do you know how it works? In the living room you can explore the interior of a vacuum cleaner bag. What might be interesting about this?

The answer to this question and many more can be found at the “Museum mit der Maus”.

How does a whirlpool occur?

This is probably something each of you has already asked yourself. The things that children learn each Sunday in front of the television, they can experienced “live” at our museum, thus feeling like Armin, Christoph, Ralph and Malin. The kids try to look into everyday mysteries. Little things become big and thereby much more comprehensible.

All the little amateur scientists and inventors who, while watching the popular “Sendung mit der Maus” are itching to get going, because instead of just watching they want to experiment themselves, have great fun at a family tour to the “Museum mit der Maus”. Applied and hands-on science, made comprehensible to kids!

DAS MUSEUM MIT DER MAUS

At the “Museum mit der Maus” kids look into everyday mysteries. Small things become big and thereby much more comprehensible. Applied and hands-on science, from the form and function of a manhole cover to the interior of a smoke alarm, applied analogously to the “Sendung mit der Maus” and always focused on the approach that children should participate and make discoveries on their own.

AGE RECOMMENDATION

At the “Museum mit der Maus” “Maus” fans aged 4 to 99 years can experience the “Maus stories” “live”.
